Second Betrayal

With Lara through her adventures was always Compton, her surrogate father. Yet Lara’s life would once more be shattered when Chase entered her life again and Compton left it. While on a hunt for the Medusa Mask, Lara was forced to work together with Chase when Compton was shot in the back with an arrow. Believing her second father to be gone, Lara fought against her grief and continued her hunt for the mask, taking insulting shots at Chase the entire time.

When the two of them located the mask, Compton surprisingly ran into the cavern. Lara was overjoyed to see him alive, when he suddenly back handed her and took the mask. Compton revealed a hatred of her family for treating him like a servant and informed her that he had been embezzling funds. When Lord Henshingly discovered this, Compton had had a fake will created, leaving the entire Croft fortune to him and then he sabotaged the plane that had lead to the deaths of Lara’s parents and fiancée. The crash should have killed Lara as well, leaving the fortune to Compton, but Lara had survived.

Trust would never been an easy thing for Lara again as the last of her family had betrayed her and had been the reason that the most important three people in her life had been killed. Compton, the only person she had trusted in years had taken everything from her that she had ever loved.

He died shortly after, killed by the Medusa Mask.
